Make a set
of crochet baskets for your autumn interior
Today’s post will teach you
how to crochet a nesting baskets set for all these items around us – keys,
jewelry, candies or nuts, dry fruits, etc.
For the projects you can use any type of yarn. But for
optimum results I recommend a thick cotton yarn. I used DMC Natura Just Cotton
XL. Each ball is 100 g/82 y. You will need less than one ball for the smallest
basket one ball for the middle sized one, and a little bit more than a ball for
the biggest one. I used a crochet hook size 10 ½. Let’s get started!
Red basket
Dimensions: 6.5 inches wide x 2.5 inches tall.
Ch 4 st. Close the chain with a sl st.
Rnd 1 – Make 5 sc st in the loop, join with a sl st (6
sc).
Rnd 2 – Make 2 sc in each st, make one 1 st in the
last sc from the previous row and join with a sl st (12 sc).
Rnd 3 – Ch 2, in the next st *make 1 sc in the first
sc, make 2 sc in the second sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join
with a sl st (18 sc).
Rnd 4 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first two sc, make 2
sc in the third sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl st
(24 sc).
Rnd 5 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first three sc, make 2
sc in the fourth sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl
st (30 sc).
Rnd 6 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first four sc, make 2
sc in the fifth sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl st
(36 sc).
Rnd 7 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first five sc, make 2
sc in the sixth sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl st
(42 sc).
Rnd 8 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first six sc, make 2
sc in the seventh sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl
st (48 sc).
Rnd 9 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first seven sc, make 2
sc in the eight sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl st
(54 sc).
You are ready with the base of the basket. Now you
will create the walls.
Rnd 10 – Ch 2, sc in every st.
Rnd 11 – 16 - Sc in each st. You are making a spiral
all the way up.
Rnd 17 – Sl st in each st, cut the thread and weave
the ends in.
There you have it – a lovely little basket entirely
made by yourself!
A few things to have in mind – mark the first st of
each row to keep track of your work. You can use a marker or a simple hair
clip. Another alternative is to ch 2 st every time you end the row instead of
the final sc but I prefer the previous way. It gives a better look.
Burnt orange basket
Dimensions: wide 7.5 inches x 2.5 inches tall
Repeat all the steps for the first basket but add one
more row after rnd 9 for the base of the basket before working the sides.
Rnd 10 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first eight sc, make
2 sc in the ninht sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl
st (60 sc).
Now make the sides but don’t forget you need to count
to count in the added row. Total of 18 rows.
Two-colors basket
Dimensions: wide 8.5 inches x 2.5 inches tall
Repeat all the steps for the first basket but add two
more rows after rnd 9 for the base of the basket before working the sides.
Rnd 10 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first eight sc, make
2 sc in the ninth sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl
st (60 sc).
Rnd 11 - Ch 2, *make 1 sc in the first ninth sc, make
2 sc in the tenth sc*. Repeat from * to * till the last stitch. Join with a sl
st (66 sc).
Now make the sides but don’t forget you need to count
to count in the added rows. Total of 19 rows.
Since this basket is bigger than the others you might
consider adding one more round on the sides. It’s up to you.
Now sit back and enjoy your work!
